The smallest Balkan nation is worth visiting for each meter of its size. 

In the very southwest of the country lies the Bay of Kotor, celebrated as the most  beautiful bay in the Adriatic Sea. The Bay is a fjord-like channel with mountains hovering over it. At the end of it, lies the UNESCO-protected medieval town of Kotor. Fortified by walls, the town consists of stone-paved streets and clusters, squares with cafes and Bizzaninian-style churches. Consider visiting in February, during the annual Carnival, and do not miss to try local dessert Kotorska krempita.

Two hours driving into the mighty Dinnaroid mountains after which Montenegro got its name, you will find Ostrog Monastery. This Orthodox Christian temple was originally carved into the mountains in the year 859, where the 17th century monastery stands today. This historic wonder attracts over 100 000 tourists each year, some drawn by the magnificent frescoes and architecture, others searching for miraculous healing.
